I have absolutely no interest in the anime but value the time with my teen-age son. At least it's not a drug addiction.
Excellent series. Grew up watching Dragonball Z and this helped me get a good backstory on Goku and friends.
Worth buying, will force future children and grandchildren to watch this and Z just in case they forgot what real anime should be like.
Also provides good morals. Some episodes play with issues. Some episodes won't play at all. Disc 3 of the first season showed "jumping video" issues.
I could have probably live with that. But when got to the second season The discs printed side looks cheap. Some discs show some marks defect shown in one of the pictures attached to this review.
The data side of some discs also show marks and two of them look "foggy". Are these legit, original discs?
I'm seriously doubting it. I looked forward to adding the complete Dragon Ball collection to my collection. The price is definitely too good to be true.
This set is a counterfeit, stay away. Comes neatly wrapped and in cases shown in pictures. It looked as if the disk was burnt or held to something of high temp and burnt a mark into it or something.
Pros: childhood nostalgia, nice box art and marathon mode where it skips the intro to th show with each episode.
Cons: slow shipping, bad disk quality. Update: I just received a new copy of the entire season that had an unreadable disk All disks work except season 4 disk 1.
Show is amazing. Two things sucked about it, there's no widescreen. And the DVD's arent all labeled right.
Last season has two disc number 4's, so its mising one CD, 6 episodes. Also, the subs don't work and if they do, they're wrong. Couple episodes skip.
I would give it 5 stars but a couple discs skip. One disc skipped somewhere along season 2 but it was just at the end of one of the episodes so it wasnt a big deal to me.
But I'm on season 3 disc 4, all played perfectly fine till end of episode 88 and it seems I cant finish episode 89 at all without it skipping drastically.
But otherwise I have been happy with my purchase. Came nicely wrapped and on time. If anymore discs skip to the point where I cant finish an episode i will update.
Update: season 4 disc 3 couldn't play the 2nd half of episode Luckily for me all the episodes that had skipped aren't too important to the story, but still would've preferred if some episodes didnt skip since I was expecting brand new.
Update: season 5 disc 3 wont play the end. Wanted to see piccolo vs kami. Still love dragon ball just wish I didnt have to skip some good episodes here and there.

I have to say, the rating I gave was more for product quality. Unfortunately, when I got to season 4 there was a problem.
What I expected to be the third disk of the 4th season, was instead the third disk of season 8. I couldn't believe what I just found, and worst part was, I looked at the season 8 disks, and they were all correct.
So now I am missing disk 3 of season 4 and have 2x of disk 3 in season 8. All in all, I love the set and its been bringing me back to my childhood, and the item was for a great price when I bought it.
I just have a new policy when I purchase TV series, open all the boxes and make sure all the correct disks are there. Now, I'm just hoping I don't have any other issues come up.
Confirmed to have the Bruce Faulconer music which is all I cared about. No regrets. The Blu-ray set takes up about half as much space compared to the "orange bricks".
If you are craving the epic Bruce Faulconer experience have no fear, his score enters the set in episode 68 of season two and continues through the rest of the series.
The into is just ok and the outro sucks in my opinion. It detracts from the experience but not enough for me to detract a star. I'm loving this.
However, it's not without it's flaws. The HD reolution is superb and they did a great job making it visually stunning. It's a shame they felt they had to crop it to be widescreen.
It can be distracting at times when you feel part of a character is cut off. I'm pleased to see that they have English with either the original Japanese music or the US version with the Bruce Faulconer music.
If the US version was in 5. And if you wanted to watch this subbed, you only get Mono sound. All-in-all, a very solid purchase. I will recommend.
Check out the customer pics to see that it will play on Bluray players either A or B. Called customer service and they told me it will only work on the B region players and were very wrong.
Amazing picture and sound. Everything is framed nicely for I hope the original DB series gets this treatment in a box set.
Also hope the DBZ movies will get a box set as well. On season 2 right now. The Goku and Vegeta fight was amazing. We all know DBZ has other amazing scenes as well.
Also Marathon mode is a godsend. I just turn that on and can watch for hours with no intro or recap. One of the best features. The original Japanese music is available in 5.
All the cool death scenes are there and there is mild swearing. Which is amazing, best way to watch the series is this set.
Highly recommended. The music by default is not the falconer music. You have to physically switch the audio to audio English 2 in order to listen to this with Falconer music.
My biggest issue that I have is that in some episodes you will notice that the animated lines outlining characters are slightly blurry.
As if the projector when scanning the film was not in focus. It starts to happen after the Frieza Saga, maybe around season 5. One episode that stands out to me is the one where Vegeta becomes Super Vegeta.
You honestly get used to it. Besides some blurry episodes this is truly the best possible way to watch Dragon Ball Z.
