What is the meaning behind the name for your mod, Toddyhancer? So yeah, Toddyhancer — haha! What inspired you to create Toddyhancer for Battlefront — what is your goal with the mod?
I just bought the game and wanted to play around with it and the results became interesting and special, so I decided to show it online.
My goal is not to improve the graphics, but more like change the style into a more [cinematic] experience.
What does Toddyhancer consist of, and what exactly does it do? Toddyhancer is just the name of my creations. What is the general procedure gamers will have to follow to install the mod?
Is there any reason gamers would not be able to use the mod during online play? There are many different reports online of just how much of a performance hit can be expected when gamers use the mod.
What FPS trade-off should be expected? Otherwise the visuals won't work properly. What are the system specs for the machine you are using to make Toddyhancer?
You're also working on a version for Grand Theft Auto V — what are the notable differences between that version and Battlefront's? He needs to reduce the sharpen mask by the screen space velocity, which Im sure they calculate to do motion blur.
To me it looked like it might have been decent graphics underneath the ruinous blur that made everything impossible to focus on.
Is this why? It sort of a takes the approach for a more realistic graphics style. Some of the screenshots look pretty impressive but also feel like there is something wrong with them.
Plus that framerate looks horrible. Not misleading in my eyes. Say that comparison is at 4K or with 8xMSAA — it usually translates up the scale: same comparison will show around 66fps vs.
Because those modders have the luxury of not having to work inside console performance constraints. The moment they sell their stuff, they start to worry about the size the market that they are catering to.
And then they have to optimize their work and it inevitably looks worse. Nice thing is they can keep their highest quality work as the ultra setting then lower the quality to be on par with the official release.

UberGerbil 5 years ago My impression was that any kind of driving is going feel crap with a gamepad no matter what; the only question is what kind of mitigation the software does to make up for a lousy mismatch of input peripheral and game dynamic.

The mod, which was designed for 4K resolution, also adds new bloom and chromatic aberration effects. In addition, it will be offered in two versions: Standard shown in the video below and a less cinematic option with toned down gamma settings show in the lead image above.

It was pointlessly awful, cars do not handle that poorly in real life. Everything in that game from a sports card to a delivery truck… handled like a delivery truck.
