Will and Grace are Sisyphean sitcom figures, rolling the rock for romantic love, only to wake up at the end of every story arc back at the bottom of the mountain, making pop culture jokes with their besties instead.
And it's one more good reason to welcome this beloved sitcom back into our lives. The cast is still phenomenal and the writing is still sharp.
You loved them and they were there for you in the late 90s and early 00s. However, no one needs them to pretend to be hip. From the opening moments, sitting down to watch the rebooted series is like wriggling into an old pair of sweatpants.
Will and Grace and Jack and Karen are sitcom escapism, complete with laugh track. It's comforting, bland tapioca pudding.
I hate myself a little for saying this, but it's nostalgia done absolutely right -- and it's really not that bad. My main problem with this reincarnation, as with the original show, is that the zippy one-liners are clever without being really funny.
