Spielberg owned the 80's and 90's. The CGI "people" are so good that you forget they are drawn. They have all the expression and nuance of real people.
I watch on a top line 4k 85 inch tv that is unforgiving. I really cant say enough good about it I have watched it a dozen times and am not bored.
It has displaced StarWars a my all time fave. One of Spielberg best. I missed seeing this at the theatres but this has turned out to be one of my most watched movies that I had purchased recently.
I enjoyed it so much that I actually purchased an extra copy as a gift I really hope there will be a sequel somewhere down the road.
One person found this helpful. This is really the first 5 Star Movie of this year. Although if you didn't grow up in the 80tis or know a lot about it then you are just gonna enjoy the bright graphics and great action.
But if you grew up in the 80ties, man you're fed one great thing after another. I cried at the end and I neer cry. I am kidding..
I love that they had the Atmos Sound on the Blu Ray. I finished reading the book, then immediately put the movie on. That was both a good and a bad thing.
The movie does not reflect the book except at a superficial level: the characters are the same, with the same general plot line, but there's so many differences that the movie is a different story line than the book.
Of course, that's to be expected when trying to condense a story into a two hour movie. So, for those who expect the movie to reflect the book, you'll be disappointed.
For those who want a good movie, then you'll be happy. This is a fun movie to watch, with excellent production values and a tight story.
The characters are engaging, and the soundtrack helps push the story forward. There's a bit more love story in the movie than the book, but that's fine.
Overall, a really enjoyable movie and one that will show off a decent surround sound system! Good clean adventure for all.
Great film. Fun and an interesting story. There is something in here for everyone. Bought the 3D version in error but it came with a standard Blu-Ray disc too so it worked out.
